Just recently for the First time, I was baptized on a Saturday evening in the small town of Salisbury, North Carolina.
As a PK (Pastor's Kid) I have never been baptized. As a kid who grew up in church, I understood the significance of Baptism and what it means to be baptized but really never pursued it.
In college, I thought I understood what it means to be saved. The real test didn't come until I started working professionally and living on my own. When you're living on your own, sometimes you have no choice but to depend on God's grace and mercy to survive. Although I am saved. In my opinion, I always thought there was one missing component, which was baptism.
Baptism of the Lord Jesus Christ represents the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. To go down in the water dirty and to rise up clean is a priceless feeling to have. The baptism represents transition and growth in Christ.
Baptism ensures the Power of the Holy Spirit within you. Life is already hard. Man, that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble (JOB 14:1). This is why it's so important to have the power of the Holy Spirit to keep us from backsliding and reverting back to our old habits and ways.
According to Assemblies of God, it states " The Baptism is an empowering gift from God the Father that is promised to every believer (Matthew 3:11; Luke 11:13; 24:49; Acts 2:33, 38). It helps the Christian to live a holy life and also brings a new devotional attachment to Jesus Christ, making Him very real and precious. The primary purpose of Baptism is to give greater power for witnessing (Acts 1:8). Other benefits include a greater joy in spiritual service and a heightened sense of one's mission to the world".
Life isn't perfect. We're not perfect, but as a believer in Christ, we are Indebted, and obligated, to strive for perfection in Christ Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit. This doesn't mean you're not going to make mistakes. We live in a sinful world and are born in sin, but we must try our best to live righteously in accordance to the Word of God. The power of the Holy Spirit will keep us and guide us in the direction the Lord has for our lives.
The Benefits of Baptism.
